PB3A
For this writing project I will be using an academic peer-reviewed article and translating it into two different genres that are geared toward different audiences. The article that I will be analyzing is one on computer-aided technology applied in 3D animation modeling design. In this article Zhili Xu, the author, discusses how current technology with computers and software can greatly help the creation of 3D animation for multiple reasons. He explains how the improvement and advancement in computers should also lead to the advancement of the quality of 3D animation. Successful design of animation modelings can not only get loved and respected by audience, enhance the box-office appeal of the animation itself, but also play a vital role for the development of the entire animation industry and its derivative industry. He also mentions how the combination of computer skills and artistic skill is essential in order to develop the entertainment industry.
I plan on making this appeal to a younger audience by discussing this topic in a genre of a picture book. I would use examples of animation movies such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Kung Fu Panda, and plenty more. I could discuss the art of animation by using pictures of computers as well as different characters in animation. I really feel like the use of animated movies such as the Pixar films will help my appeal to the younger children however it is also important to get across the importance of the computers behind these animations. In order to accomplish this goal I would compare computers as being a part of a recipe in order to create the finished product.
The other audience that I would need to appeal to is the older audience. One way that I feel is the best way to appeal to the older audience is by transforming it into a newspaper article. This could be by making the headline as “Computers Becoming Extremely Essential in the Creation of Animations” and having the actual content be about the correlation between the animations and computer skills. It can also discuss the entertainment industry and Hollywood. The newspaper article can show how the skills that one can learn through computer animation could possibly lead to a job in the future. This would also show how computer animation is actually important in the economy and can help people find jobs in a competitive economy. It could also tie it into the college courses offered in colleges and the need for these types of classes in college to be encouraged and supported. These are all just possible ideas of how I would change the original peer-reviewed article into something that appeals to little kids as well as older people.
This would mean that I have to use the conventions present in the academic article and turn them into conventions of a picture book and a newspaper article. I would also have to choose which information to include as well as which details are not as important to the audience and purpose.

Painting trees

After watching the videos, it is clear to see that a lot of these artists have very similar mindsets when making these paintings. They all wanted to start with something, no matter what it was. Whether it was a small scrape of the knife on the canvas or just lightly tapping the canvas with a brush, they began with something. Another thing I noticed is that they constantly reminded you that it was your painting, meaning that you control the outcome of how it looks. Each of them also had a step-by-step tutorial on what to do. Even though they gave you the steps, they allowed you freedom to be creative and just simply guided your flow of ideas.

They each have very similar styles, which might be a convention of teaching art, because they both try to get the audience engaged in the paintings. They approach the painting with a very open minded approach in which the small bush in the first video is "your bush" or like the second artist says, "you control your painting". Obviously the first one is satire to the actual real artists and it makes fun of the way the artists say things like make it your secret or its your painting.

Wednesday Online Class Q&A

I felt as if I definitely improved in my WP2 compared to my WP1 paper. This is because I was able to structure my ideas better as well as include a lot more of my own analysis. I took what I learned from WP1 and applied it to WP2, which as a result made the writing process a little easier. I was also happy with my ability to use data from the text in order to make my argument stronger, and also to make a better thesis statement.
One comment I received yesterday that was most helpful was to make my thesis statement more debatable because it allowed me to make more of an argument. Another comment was to fix wording in certain areas because it allowed my paper to flow better.
I felt as if the Peer/Reader Review session from Monday was definitely better than the old school way. It made it easy to make comments on the papers in certain specific areas as well as not discourage you to make any criticisms.
